PANTO punters got a shock yesterday when they rang the Lamproom to hear Coronation Street’s Becky Granger answer the phone.
Corrie actress Katherine Kelly, who plays rough-around-the-edges Becky, is starring as the magic mirror in the Lamproom’s Christmas panto, Snow White.
She took ticket sales and enquiries in character at the Lamproom box office yesterday, answering the phone with a cheery “ey up”.
Although Becky used to be quite nasty, Katherine said she was nice to the customers. “If they’re spending lots of money and buying lots of tickets, then I’m really nice. “The customer is always right, that’s what Roy would say.”
Katherine is the first Corrie actress to be allowed to take part in a panto while under contract at the show.
Her producers allowed it because of her strong links with the Lamproom and because she appears in a unique virtual video performance.
The show runs from December 16 to 30 at the Metrodome.
