TORRENTIAL rain caused much of Elsecar to flood again this week with Elsecar park bearing the brunt of the downpour.
Several holes on the park golf course were submerged and water topped the level of litter bins during its peak on Monday.
Floodwater backed up against the remainder of a wall destroyed in the June floods offering some protection to the traffic on Wentworth Road.
And ducks used the heritage centre car park as a makeshift pond as the run-off from Elsecar reservoir completely covered the tarmac.
Onlookers watched as the water levels rose on the canal and the locks seemed close to bursting point from all of the extra pressure.
Wath Road, Elsecar and Lygate Bridge on Sheffield Road were closed by police as standing water made them impassible.
Members of the heritage centre's voluntary fire service were on standby in case floodwaters threatened homes or businesses.
