A WOMBWELL woman persuaded architects to turn a proposed block of flats around so it didn't face into her house.
But she is still not happy because the three-storey block of terracotta, orange and beige flats on Aldham House Lane will be too close to her Pearson Crescent home.
Linda Auckland said: "It's 11 metres from my garden - it's too close. It's going to take all my light away and even though they've turned it round so the front doesn't face into my windows, there are still windows on the side."
Three planning applications for blocks on Aldham House Lane, Pearson Crescent and Simons Way were all approved by the council on Tuesday despite a 112-signature petition of objection.
The Aldham House Lane block has been turned around 90 degrees following objections, but residents still say the flats are too big, out of character and the wrong sort of homes.
Amanda Burkinshaw said: "We don't want flats, we want houses. The old flats were a nightmare. They caused so many problems. But they're just not listening to us."
Another resident said: "The colours are awful. It might be modern, but it's just not in keeping. If it was neutral colours there'd be a lot less complaint."
Yorkshire Metropolitan Housing Association will build the properties and consultation is continuing with residents about how to develop the rest of the 8.5 acre where council flats were demolished.
