Molly Darby was so proud she used to walk rather than apply for an OAP bus pass and would never leave the house without her hair and make up done.

But after just a month in a nursing home the 94- year-old was unable to open her eyes because they were stuck together and her matted hair had grown into the skin of her neck.

She was taken to Barnsley Hospital with a chest infection, pneumonia, septicaemia, a urinary tract infection, ear infection and bed sores.

Molly died on August 29 and had only been a resident at the Beeches care home in Wath since the beginning of last July.

A Rotherham Council investigation has concluded she had been neglected and their findings have now been passed on to the Commission for Social Care Inspectorate.

Her family are pleased with the verdict but son Jim, one of her seven children, says they won't let the issue drop and want to make sure this doesn't happen to another family.
