FIRE-FIGHTERS were making a routine call on Monday afternoon when a householder said: 'I'm glad you're here, I think I'm having a heart attack'. They were delivering leaflets in Greenwood Avenue, Worsbrough, when John Moody, suffering chest pains, caught their attention.
Fire-fighter Matt Craig said: "I ran back to the pump to alert the crew, and collected the defibrillator and oxygen, and administered first aid until the paramedics arrived." Paramedics have confirmed that Mr Moody, 62, had suffered a heart attack.
He was still recovering in hospital yesterday and was told to take it steady. He said: "I'd like to thank the fire brigade for their quick action. The ambulance and hospital staff were also brilliant and between them probably saved my life.
"I was extremely fortunate that someone was calling at the house at that time. I don’t want to think about what would have happened otherwise."
