COUNCILLORS have greeted plans to bring three new GP surgeries to the borough with scepticism.

A consultant for the Primary Care Trust told an area forum the three new practices and a GP led walk facility, where no appintment is needed, in the town centre would be open by April.

But Coun Len Picken, who has chaired the council's health scrutiny for several years, said they must be plucking the new doctors from thin air.
