BARNSLEY footballer Kayode Odejayi was on hand to formally open Silkstone Primary school's new £500,000 building last week.

The building includes three classrooms and next to it a foundation stage play area.

The school invited Kayodi, who lives locally, to cut the ribbon and mark the end of nine months of hard work.

Headteacher Simon Barber said: "We wanted to celebrate these wonderful new facilities for the children to learn in the 21st century."
