THIS young Dodworth choirboy hit the right note when he became the youngest ever head chorister at Wakefield Cathedral.
Jack Johnson, 12, has been singing with the choir since March 2001, when he was also the cathedral’s youngest ever chorister.
Under the tutelage of master of music Jonathan Bielby and his assistant Thomas Moore, Jack scored 95 per cent in his choral exam, the highest mark in the diocese.
He received his bishop’s chorister medal last month and is now one of only 42 head cathedral choristers in the UK.
He said: “I was shocked when Mr Bielby announced I was going to be head chorister.
“I felt a bit dizzy and sick because I’ve been working hard for it and it’s a great honour.
“I knew I had a chance but I wasn’t sure because I was competing against two people.”
Jack will now have to support the other choristers and attend annual Wakefield Cathedral Choir Association meetings.
