A BARNSLEY singer has landed a gig singing with a professional Bee-Gees tribute band - even though she's a girl. Danielle Steers, 17, of Brettas Park, Monk Bretton, will sing a selection of songs originally written by the Bee Gees for other artistes, like Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand and Dionne Warwick, when Jive Talking comes to Barnsley in October. She said: "I knew they sometimes had guests sing with them so I sent my CD off to the band's agent and they asked me to sing." Danielle has her sights on a career on the West End stage. She is about to start the second year of a three year course at the SLP stage school in Leeds. She said: "Ever since I was little it's been a huge ambition for me to make it to the West End. But to be honest I'd sing anywhere really. I just love performing." Danielle will also perform her own concert, an evening with Danielle Steers and Guests, at the Academy Theatre next week. She hopes it will raise some money because it costs her thousands of pounds each year for her course in fees, uniform, equipment and travel. Earlier in the summer she won two talent shows netting prize money of £3,000. She was won about 20 singing competitions so far. The Jive Talking show is on October 9 at the Academy Theatre in Birdwell. Danielle's own show is on Sunday September 7. For tickets call 744442.
