DESPERATE parents of a Bolton toddler with a condition affecting just 50 people in the world have launched an appeal.

Lilly Mae Skidmore has been confirmed as having the illness which has symptoms including weak muscles and difficulties with breathing, learning, walking and seeing.

She can be treated by only a handful of specialists and doctors. It is believed only 50 other cases have been recored, mainly in America. The oldest sufferer is 22.

Lily Mae's mum and dad, Vicky and James, have started fund-raising to pay for the building of a therapy room at their bungalow on Billingley View.

The couple have nowhere to store bulky equipment including walking frames, standing frames and physiotherapy balls.

The appeal has been set up because the only income is from James who is a school caretaker.
