Marcel Ritzmaier has left Barnsley by mutual consent and joined German second division side SV Sandhausen.
The 28-year-old Austrian joined the Reds in January last year and played 22 games before being loaned out to Rapid Vienna.
He returned to pre-season at Oakwell and played in the friendlies but has now left the club.
