AN 11-YEAR-OLD musician from Silkstone Common is celebrating after winning a place with the National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain.
Emma Prince, of Nether Royd View, started playing the double bass after joining her school orchestra in 2006.
The lucky plucker, who is also a member of Wentworth Strings, auditioned for the National Children's Orchestra (NCO) in Leeds in October and has just accepted a place in the under 11s age band.
Emma said: "I decided to learn the double bass because it was a bit different and I love playing it. My teacher said I was getting pretty good and suggested I should audition, so I did."
