A DAD who took his wife and kids to the pub for a meal says he was kicked out because he was wearing a 'hoodie'.
Chris Hawden, 40, was asked to leave the Eastfield Arms at Staincross before he could even order a drink because his blue sweatshirt had a hood attached.
He was not wearing the hood — he says he has never put it up.
Chris, of Carlton, said: "So many pubs are struggling to get customers through the door. They're all getting knocked down or turned into flats.
"But in this economic climate, we have a pub in Barnsley happy to turn customers away. "We were all dressed respectably in my opinion."
Landlord Darren Bacon said under a new policy which came into effect this week, customers wearing hooded tops are not asked to leave, but asked to remove their hoodie. He said: "Of course he is welcome, as is every customer. We'd like him to come back, but he would need to observe our correct dress code. It's a new company policy - no hooded tops, no tracksuits and no baseball caps."
