A LOCAL girl band will not give up despite failing to get through to the second auditions of this year's X Factor.
The Poppi Chix, named after the Tall Poppy singing and dance studios, where the girls met, was given the thumbs up after the first auditions in Manchester but failed to reach the third round.
Known throughout Barnsley for their charity and gala performances, the girls say they are not disappointed just glad of the experience.
Natalie Venters, 16, of Schofield Drive, Darfield, said: "We have got so much going on at the moment anyway. Myself and Ebony are taking our GCSEs in two weeks and we have plenty of gigs to rehearse for.
"It would have been good to get through to the live X Factor auditions but the experience was amazing and we are looking at it as a learning curve."
New member, Megan Smith, 16, of Sheffield, said: "I have been with the band only a month so am finding my feet.
"The auditions were surreal. I made friends with Stephanie McMichael - a contestant in Big Brother 2008 - and she saved me a seat and gave me her mobile number, it was amazing."
