SPORTS enthusiasts at Darfield Upperwood were joined by women's England opening bowler, Katherine Brunt, to celebrate National Cricket day.

Yesterday's event was supported by a Chance to Shine - a coaching scheme for kids - helping them to acquire important skills, values and attitudes.

Children took part in various cricket based activities, skills workshops and a children verses staff cricket match.

All money raised will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer and children received sun safety workshops in order to develop their awareness of skin cancer.

Parent group FOCUS donated the winners’ medals and supplied the children with refreshments on the day.
