THE PARENTS of a healthy baby twin who died suddenly say they hope that advances in medical tests in future will find the cause behind sudden unexpected death in infants.
An inquest was told how seven-week-old George Samuel Burton had not been very well at home in the days before his death at Barnsley hospital on April 29.
The consultant pathologist at Sheffield Children's Hospital, Dr Al-Adnani, said George was unwell on April 28 then gradually got worse becoming slightly lethargic and not very responsive.
His parents, Martin and Rebecca Burton, of Penistone sought the help of their GP who immediately referred them to Barnsley hospital.
However, George's health deteriorated further and he was put straight into the Intensive Care Unit where he later died.
Dr Al-Adnani concluded from the post-mortem he had suffered unexpected death in infancy syndrome - which is a natural death with no specific cause.
