A SPLENDID old photograph shows a group of gentlemen from Wombwell having a relaxing get-together.
Eric Holmes who lives in Armthorpe, Doncaster, submitted the photograph. "I get the Chronicle every week and I have observed you have had great success in these ventures and I hope you can also help me."
Mr Holmes was born in Mitchells Terrace, Wombwell, along with many family members of different generations. He believes the man on the right of the photograph is Mr Betts, a distant relative.
The group spent many hours sitting on a bench in Barnsley Road at its junction with Main Street. They were known locally as the "Old Men's Parliament."
But, when this photograph was taken they were sitting on another bench, possibly at the seaside.
