BARNSLEY MP Eric Illsley says national newspaper claims that his expenses are being investigated by police are 'speculation'.
Two papers reported he is among nine politicians being investigated by Scotland Yard over their claims.
But Eric told the Chronicle yesterday he had not been interviewed, questioned or spoken to by police. He said: "The police have got the details of my claims. That goes back to July. But nobody has contacted me."
He accused The Sunday Times and the Daily Telegraph of being on a 'fishing expedition'.
"It's pure speculation. My claims had a lot of publicity in the Telegraph so my name keeps getting dragged back into it."
