CARL Evans spotted a photograph in Memories of a group of lads having a pint at a Blackpool pub during Barnsley Feast Week 1964.
It brought back happy memories as he and his pals had visited the same pub four years earlier.
The pub was The Huntsman, very popular because of its central position on the sea front.
"Though at times we could be boisterous, generally we knew how far to go as a gentle word from the pub staff was usually enough, or we were put out.
"It also paid to behave in our digs as the firm but fair ladies who ran it insisted on certain standards of behaviour.
"Really though, they were like our parents and would help us if we had any problems. They cared and wanted us to return with our own families in later years, as many of us did."
Mr Evans has named the young men on the photograph as, left to right: The 'twins' Dave Gledhill Tony Barradell, Barrie 'Bruce' Woodcock, Dennis 'Ike' Whitham, Alan 'Mod' Hill, Pete 'Zatopeck' Newton, a forgotten friend, Carl 'Nug' Evans, Ken 'Smigger' Smith, Terry 'Fretters' Fretwell.
