COUNCIL and NHS Barnsley bosses who spent £12,000 on plans for an effigy of a fat boy eating burgers have scrapped the idea and apologised for causing offence.
‘Bye Bye Burger Boy’ was to be set alight in Locke Park as the finale of the mayor’s parade and summer carnival.
But the controversial proposals were withdrawn following public backlash leaving taxpayers to foot the £12,000 bill still owed to the design company.
