A CARLTON girl was runner-up in what is dubbed ‘the Chelsea Flower Show of the north’.
Megan Nugent, eight, of Royston Lane came second in the ‘Just for Fun’ category for under-12s at Harrogate Flower Show.
She filled a big cup and saucer owned by her mum Julie, 39, with white, purple, green and yellow flowers including gerberas, freesia, stocks and foliage. It was the third year that Megan, a pupil of St Dominic’s School, has taken part in the show.
Julie, who runs Flower Corner on Summer Lane, Barnsley, said: “Entrants in Megan’s category had to arrange flowers in an unusual container. She saw my cup and saucer and gave it a go.â€
Megan often helps at her mum’s shop during the holidays.
