A TEAM of architects and engineers is redesigning the Barnsley market project to make it cheaper to build.

The ambitious project is at the heart of the council’s Remaking Barnsley scheme but was delayed when funding was withdrawn because of the economic crisis.

Its original budget was £180 million.

Plans are now being redrawn to make it cheaper and convince banks to release money for it.

The revised drawings should be done by September.
