THE work of the Dearne Safer Neighbourhood Team in dealing with a domestic problem at Thurnscoe has been recognised with an award from senior officers with Barnsley police.
“The PCSO’s did a lot of good hard work in resolving this problem and I think it should be recognised by the wider community,” said Sgt Rick Rushton of Dearne SNT based at Goldthorpe police station.
“We also have to thank the general public for their co-operation in passing on information, and cannot impress on them enough that our job would be a lot more difficult without it.”
The team has been awarded a District Good Work Minute . The citation reads “..in recognition of their commitment, perseverance and professionalism in addressing a significant criminal damage and domestic issue in Derry Grove, Thurnscoe.”
It states that it was an extensive and difficult problem which had the potential to develop into a more serious incident. Teamwork has brought a stop to the criminal activity in the area and hopes of a lasting solution.
“People don’t know about all the good work and support the PCSOs carry out alongside police officers,” said Sgt Rick Rushton of Dearne SNT.
“Everyone has worked hard and when we get recognition like this it lifts the whole team.
“We’re also recruiting special constables and I’m pleased with the response we’ve had so far.”
