AN ANXIOUS summer-long wait ended yesterday for hundreds of teenagers across Barnsley as A-level results were published.

But many were still left wondering if they had done enough to secure a place at university.

Government-imposed caps on the number of university places and higher education budget restrictions mean competition is tougher than ever.

The situation meant advisors at Barnsley College and the Connexions service on Pitt Street had a busy day yesterday.
