BARNSLEY College has outgrown its new building before it has been finished.
The college at the top of Old Mill Lane was designed more than three years ago when student numbers were expected to be about 3,600 by the time it was finished.
But numbers have rocketed faster than expected and the college already has 4,350 students on the books.
By September 2011 when the new building is open, 5,000 are expected.
The college is already leasing temporary accommodation across Barnsley to fill the gap but is also pressing ahead with several plans for new buildings and extensions to old ones.
