THE Hoyland Lowe Stand Trust raised almost £400 towards the renovation of the local landmark in Hoyland town centre on Saturday.

Members sold 30 calendars for 2011, some of which are being sent as far as New Zealand, Australia and America.

There was also a tombola and bric-a-brac stall and about 500 flyers were handed out to advertise the group's fund-raising Christmas fair on November 27 at St Andrew's Parish Hall, Market Street.

This year, Earnshaw's Fencing Centres has donated the group a Christmas tree which will be on display at the fair and will be kept in the hall for other groups to benefit from.

Members of the Hoyland Lowe Stand Trust committee are to present a wreath at the Remembrance Day service at the War Memorial on West Street on Sunday. The committee will be represented by Peter Ambler, a long serving ex-serviceman and husband of Glenda Ambler, a Trust committee member.
