A Barnsley mum says her life is complete after beating the odds to give birth to her ‘miracle baby’.
Jolie Dingle, 33, of Northgate, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer while expecting her son, Theo James. At 22 weeks pregnant she underwent an operation to remove three quarters of her pancreas, half her stomach, all of her spleen and part of a kidney.
Jolie said: “They told me the baby wouldn’t survive and they weren’t sure of my chances of survival. When he did survive the operation I was told that I would probably miscarry or go into early labour.
“But he carried on getting stronger. He is just a miracle baby – he doesn’t have a thing wrong with him.”
In fact, Theo James also saved Jolie’s life because she may not have got herself checked if it wasn’t for her pregnancy. She had felt no pain but was feeling very sick and had lost weight.
