The son of a former Barnsley Chronicle reporter has been charged with murder after his father was found dead.
Winton Cooper's body was discovered at his home in a village in Dorset. Joseph Cooper, 23, of Marnhull, Dorset, was due to appear before magistrates today.
Winton started his career at the Chronicle in the late 1950s. He worked alongside Don Booker who went on to be editor.
Mr Booker said Winton worked on several district editions of the Chronicle including the Penistone edition.
He went on to work for the Huddersfield Examiner and other papers before joing BBC Radio Sheffield. He did many featues on the Chronicle and interviewed Mr Booker while working for Radio Sheffield.
Winton's parents - his father had been a policeman and his mum was from Wombwell - ran a pub in High Hoyland where Winton lived, said Mr Booker. He was in his 60s.
A former colleague said he had had a telephone conversation with Winton about two weeks ago in which he said he was dealing with a number of issues. Winton said 'things were happening and he would write'. A letter never arrived.
He said Winton was worried that people would find out where he was living.
Dorset police are investigating and a spokesman said: "While the deceased man is yet to be identified he is believed to be Howard Winton Cooper, born in 1947, the father of the charged man."
