A woman who wanted one last cruise after she died has had her ashes scattered from the new Queen Elizabeth cruise ship.
Sheila Kemp, 75, was committed to the sea at off the coast of Ostend, Belgium, on Tuesday in a service conducted by the ship's Cpt Christopher Wells and attended by partner Ted Hemingway, 87, of Stainborough View, Ward Green.
Ted said: "It was a beautiful service. Sheila had been on all the other Queen Elizabeth's Cunard had and expressed an interest in going on the new one when she was launched. It's what she would have wanted."
Sheila was born in Thurnscoe and worked as a market trader in Barnsley before moving to America for about 15 years. She returned to Barnsley ten years ago and she and Ted were together for about eight years before she died suddenly in January last year.
