ONE BARNSLEY loanee gained promotion this week and two others are in play-off action in the coming days.

Jack Shepherd went up from League Two with Bradford City thanks to an injury-time winner over Fleetwood Town. The 23-year-old defender – who is contracted at Oakwell until 2026 – played the full match and has impressed with the Bantams, playing 49 games in all competitions.

He is expected to be part of the Reds' squad next season.

Meanwhile, Vimal Yoganathan helped Oldham Athletic to a fifth-placed finish in the National League and they will host Halifax Town in a one-legged play-off quarter final on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old midfielder has made six starts, including the last four games, and come off the bench eight times.

Sam Cosgrove is part of the Stockport County squad which finished third in League One, and will face Leyton Orient in the play-off semi-final on Saturday and Wednesday. The 28-year-old striker has made one start and come on six times since his January loan from the Reds where he is now out of contract.

Aiden Marsh missed out on the play-offs in the Scottish Championship, despite scoring Raith Rovers’ fifth goal in a 5-1 win at Queen’s Park.

The striker, who turned 22 this week, scored three times during his loan, despite only starting once, and coming off the bench 14 times.
