A drug user found guilty of manslaughter has been sentenced to eight years.

James Walker punched Alan Cartwright in a rage when he refused to let him have drugs and pay for them later, Sheffield Crown Court was told.

Alan's body was found by his daughter on the living room of his home at Darton Lane, Mapplewell, the day after the attack.

Walker, 27, of Windsor Avenue, Kexborough, had denied manslaughter but yesterday a jury took just three hours to find him guilty of the crime.

Justice Peter Openshaw said he accepted the two punches were not 'especially hard.'

"But the punches delivered to Alan Cartwright, frail as he was, did not need to be very hard and did knock him down twice."
