The summer transfer window is due to open on Sunday with Barnsley hoping to get some incoming signings done in the first few weeks.

The Reds are set for a busy summer of new recruits, with head coach Conor Hourihane looking to ‘reset’ the squad and recruit around his favoured 4-3-3 formation. There are three weeks until the squad returns for the pre-season training period, by which time Barnsley are hopeful they will have added some new faces to the group.

They are also expected to make more additions to their coaching staff following the appointments last week of Richard Keogh and Tom Harban.

A goalkeeper coach and head coach of performance look set to be announced in the near future.

Barnsley are expected to sell players this summer to offset expected losses of up to £10million, with the likes of Davis Keillor-Dunn and Adam Phillips thought to be of interest to other clubs.

The Reds have now been off for four weeks since finishing their 2024/25 campaign with a 4-2 win at Reading which left them 12th in League One.

The squad must all return for four ‘check-in days’ to be monitored by head coach Conor Hourihane and his staff, before pre-season officially starts.

Their first friendly is at Workop Town on July 5 then there are set to be a series of other away matches.
