THIS weekend Barnsley will celebrate Callum Simpson’s return to Oakwell for his European super-middleweight title fight against Ivan Zucco.

More than 10,000 fans will be with us on Saturday night for what promises to be a great occasion.

We have been delighted with the response of the community ahead of the event and, despite the fact that the last fight was a great success, we have gone to great lengths to ensure this time it’s an even bigger and better experience.

We have added in some additional bars to give us over 200 beer taps across Oakwell, over 80 of those being on the pitch and additionally we have 41 warp-speed ‘bottoms up’ beer dispense points in place.

There is a huge variety of food including pizza available via the 147 service points at the venue on fight night.

We would encourage those attending to head over as early as possible with gates opening from 4.30pm and an incredible undercard on display including the recent addition of Adam Azim.

Back to football, we have announced our pre-season friendlies this week which have been carefully planned with the football department to ensure that the players get minutes in their legs at the right moments across the pre-season that Conor Hourihane has planned out meticulously.

The team returns to training later this month, slightly earlier than many would have expected – a clear indication that the head coach and the staff intend on setting the standard as high as possible.

Many fans have been asking about next year’s kit. More information will with you all shortly about an exciting new partnership which will launch in the coming weeks.

The kit is currently on its way over to the UK and will be in store as soon as possible.
