BARNSLEY Premier Leisure has been named as the official charitable partner of the Barnsley 10k.

Taking place a week on Sunday, the event will see 2,000 runners take to the streets of Barnsley.

Barnsley Premier Leisure (BPL) are a not-for-profit social enterprise and charitable organisation that has been serving local communities since July

Coun James Higginbottom, cabinet spokesperson for environment and highways, said: “It’s fantastic to see Barnsley Premier Leisure stepping forward to sponsor this year’s Barnsley 10k.

“Their commitment to promoting fitness and community spirit aligns perfectly with the values of this event.

“I’m confident this partnership will inspire even more people to lace up their running shoes and join us in celebrating active lifestyles.”

Anne Nixon, health and wellbeing delivery manager at BPL, added: “We are proud to be the headline sponsor of this year’s Barnsley 10k.

“It’s a brilliant event which really does get an entire community together.

Entries are now closed for this year’s race, however there are still opportunities to volunteer on the day.
