BARNSLEY RUFC Ladies players scored the majority of the points as Yorkshire retained their County Championship title at Twickenham this week.
Yorkshire won 29-19 against Buckinghamshire on Saturday at the national stadium. The eight Barnsley players involved this season have been Jasmin Brankin, the Yorkshire captain, Becky Patrick, Hailey Swann, Amy Needham, Beth Arnold and Ellie Erskine as well as married couple Jessica and Alix Taylor-Roberts. Lauren Bolger, who played last year, was in the management team. Patrick and Alix Taylor-Roberts – in her final game before retirement – scored tries while the latter added three conversions and a penalty for an individual tally of 14.
Patrick said: “That was possibly the hardest game I have ever played.
“However, to win two years running is unbelievable. To score the opening try and get Player of the Match is something I’ll always be proud of.”
