RESIDENT doctors at Barnsley Hospital are set to go on strike again in a row over pay.
Formerly called junior doctors, the healthcare workers are set to take industrial action from 7am on July 25 to 7am on July 30.
Between 2023 and 2024, resident doctors in England participated in an unprecedented 11 rounds of strike action, after negotiations with the previous Conservative government over restoring pay repeatedly stalled.
A deal was agreed last September but less than a year later and they are set to strike again.
The British Medical Association said 55 per cent of its 48,000 members voted in the ballot with 90 per cent supporting industrial action.
The government said it was ‘disappointing’ that the BMA was continuing to threaten industrial action after doctors had been awarded a pay rise of 28.9 per cent over the last three years.
They confirmed they would not be reopening negotiations on their pay.
