OLIVER Rowland is the Formula E champion for 2025, winning the title for the first time in his career.

The 31-year-old from Penistone is 59 points clear with only 58 available from the last two races in London on the final weekend of the month.

He has led the championship from the early rounds and secured the title with a fourth-placed finish in the second race in Berlin on Sunday.

Rowland has been in Formula E for much of his career, returning to Nissan after an unsuccessful move to Mahindra Racing.

His young daughter Harper spoke to him immediately over the team radio after he won.

Rowland, a Barnsley FC fan, said: “I’m very proud to win the drivers’ world championship with Nissan Formula E Team - it’s going to take a while for it to sink in."
