A LOCAL dance school are ‘incredibly proud’ of their students - after they were crowned winners of an international dance award.
JL Dance Company, based on Summer Lane, were crowned champions of the teams category at the 2025 International Dance Teachers’ Association (IDTA) Musical Theatre Awards.
The school had been invited last year and finished second, but this year they were able to overcome ‘tough competition’ and win with their performance of a Matilda melody.
JLDC were one of the ten dance teams to compete in this month’s finals in Blackpool, after they were initially nominated to apply by an IDTA examiner.
Principals of JLDC, Joanne and Lucy Hillen-Tindle, said: “We are incredibly proud of our students.
“Their dedication, creativity and hard work has paid off in the most amazing way.
“To win such a respected award is truly special for our school and for all of our students.”
