A TEENAGER from Barnsley will ride in the Tour de France, in what is thought to be a first in the town’s sporting history.
Imogen Wolff, from Silkstone Common, has been selected as part of Visma Lease-A-Bike team for the Tour de France Femmes which starts on Saturday and is due to run until August 3.
The 19-year-old is in her first season as a professional cyclist having won gold medals for Great Britain at junior level.
The 726-mile race will take riders across almost the full breadth of France from Vannes in Brittany to Portes du Soleil in the Alps on the border with Switzerland.
No cyclist from Barnsley is thought to have ever competed in the Tour de France previously, either the male or female version.
