A NEW play hub has officially opened in Barnsley Markets.
As part of the Family Hubs scheme, a new space has now opened in the town centre designed to support young children and their families.
Mayor of Barnsley Coun Dave Leech cut the ribbon at a special ceremony last week, which was also attended by Barnsley FC mascot Toby Tyke and local residents.
The space has also been spruced up thanks to a new mural created by Adam Briscoe whose work is already on display across the borough.
Coun Trevor Cave, cabinet spokesperson for children’s services, said: “The opening of the play hub at Barnsley Market is a fantastic step forward in making support for families more visible and accessible in the heart of our community.
“It’s more than just a place to play - it’s a welcoming space where families can connect, feel supported, and access the help they need.
“We remain committed to making great childhoods possible in Barnsley and we look forward to seeing the positive impact the play hub will have for children and families across the borough.”
