BARNSLEY Council’s RampUP programme has returned for the summer.
The sessions have proven incredibly successful in previous years with more than 10,400 participants inspired to cycle or scoot across 311 events delivered in schools and communities since the first sessions in 2023.
The event returned last Wednesday at Silkstone Cricket Club, with sessions due to continue until August.
Coun James Higginbottom, cabinet spokesperson for environment and highways, said: “This summer we have a busy schedule of events happening across our borough.
“Physical activity has many proven benefits for our physical and mental health, so it’s important that our children and young people have the opportunity to access these experiences so they can move more, live well and feel better.
“The events offer an engaging, creative and informal way for people to get involved in cycling and scooting at an early age, combining both practical and educational elements to teach young people about active travel.
“We remain committed to enhancing the lives of our young people and investing in a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Barnsley.”
