BARNSLEY AC’s Emily Richardson and Amelie Spicer represented South Yorkshire Dons at the National Relay Championships in Birmingham.
Emily was part of the under 20 4x400m mixed relay team which finished third overall in a PB time of 3-33-63.
Amelie competed in the under 17 women’s 4x100m and 4x300m relays.
The teams set new PBs with times of 51.87 and 2-55-45.
Penistone Footpath Runners turned out in force for the latest race in the Kimberworth Striders’ KMR Series — the ever-popular Stan’s Toffee Run.
The race starts and finishes at Elsecar Heritage Centre with a long climb up Linthwaite Lane to Wentworth before an off-road descent to return to Elsecar.
A total of 17 club members took part and the challenging course produced a string of stand-out performances.
At the front of the field, Richard Cottam ran superbly to secure second place overall in a time of 23-44.
There was further podium success in the age categories, with Ian Neville finishing as first over60 man in 26-47, Suzanne McGill first over45 woman in 28-05, Stuart Woodhead topping the men’s over70 category in 34-21, and Barbara Haigh winning the first over75 women’s prize in 43-05.
Barnsley AC’s Naomi Drakeford and Vicky Shaw finished as second and third women in times of 27-01 and 27-22 respectively. Riley Turton ran his first race for Barnsley AC and finished in 38-32. There were 11 Barnsley Harriers at the race which was also their trail championship. Jerry Fisher was their first man back and Rachel Jardine the first woman.
Peter Beever represented Penistone at the Escrick 10k Trail Race, completing the course in 47-12.
Husband and wife team Simon and Georgi Newton were the only Barnsley Harriers at Escrick. Simon finished in 41-38 and Georgi in 1-07-47.
Harrier Louise Ingham finished 220th in the York Open Sprint Triathlon.
She finished in 1-35-03.
Penistone’s Robert Davies took on the Even Splits York 5k where he ran 20-28 — his best 5k performance since May 2019.
