BARNSLEY Women’s FC lost 5-4 in a remarkable game at Boldmere St Michael’s on Sunday.
The Reds took the lead through Millie Fugler but then trailed 2-1 at half-time.
They levelled early in the second half through Charlotte Stuart but found themselves 4-2 down before Stuart scored from halfway line from the re-start and Helen Lynskey levelled at 4-4 from a free-kick.
Boldmere, managed by former Premier League midfielder Karl Henry, took the lead again then went down to ten players.
Barnsley have now won one and lost one of their two National League Division One Midlands games.
They are now due to visit Lincoln United on Sunday.
Manager Craige Richardson said: “In the first half an hour, it was case of how many we would score but they scored and momentum changed.
“There are no excuses, we weren’t good enough.
“We expected to win and we should be beating teams like Boldmere.
“We can’t concede five goals. Some were really poor.
“We have to be better next week.
“We get some players back, we have to lift the girls and we should be applying ourselves little bit more.
“But mark my words, this one hurts.”
On the behaviour of the home staff, Richardson said: “People know what it’s like to come to Boldmere.
“It’s Karl’s style all the way through and you create an atmosphere where people don’t want to come.
“Club officials surrounding the dugout and constantly chipping away is a distraction.
“All credit to them and we’ve got to smile.
“Where I’ve got to draw a line is when you can’t take a throw-in because they are all on the touchline.”
Barnsley WFC lost 1-0 at home to Sheffield United academy in the League Cup on Thursday.
