BARNSLEY’S answer to Lewis Capaldi has just released his latest EP after a five-year hiatus - and he’ll celebrate the launch at Cubley Hall next month.
Toby Burton, 28, originally started producing covers of other artist’s songs and posting them onto YouTube before he began writing his own music before he went to university.
He released his first EP in 2014 and his second in 2018 before releasing a couple of singles in 2020.
His latest song, ‘Always Wrong, Never Right’, was released on August 13 and has already amassed 40,000 streams on Spotify.
And he’s set to play a headline show at Cubley Hall to celebrate the launch on September 7.
Toby, from Penistone, told the Chronicle: “This is my first EP in five years.
“To date my music has been streamed on Spotify over 250,000 times and I have been the number one artist on both Amazing Radio and Future Hits Radio UK.
“My music takes influence from singer-songwriters including Lewis Capaldi and Dermot Kennedy.
“There are also two local singer-songwriters on the bill for the launch gig - Jasmine Fearn and Catriona Fraser.”
