SATURDAY is the final day of the season for most South Yorkshire League clubs, with several Barnsley teams having an outside chance of promotion or fighting against relegation.
Silkstone United are currently fourth in Division Five, with two to go up. They are within four points of both the teams directly above them but they play each other so Silkstone would need that game to be rained off or tied.
They defended 127 by bowling Warmsworth 2nd XI out for 86. Callum Gray took five for seven off five overs.
Darfield still have a chance of promotion from Division One after removing Wickersley for 90 in a ten-wicket win. Saman Khursheed took four for 11 off 7.1 overs then Jabari Mills hit 50 not out off 24 balls with seven sixes. They are six points outside the two promotion places but could finish second if they win and Coal Aston lose.
Penistone were skittled for 99 in an eight-wicket loss at Conisbrough while Monk Bretton’s 172 was not enough in a six-wicket loss to Whitley Hall 2nd XI.
Houghton Main were all out for 134 chasing 252 at home to Warmsworth. Renaldo Brathwaite took four wickets and Riaz Khan three, with Ian Simon claiming two stumpings.
Higham won by 54 runs at Bradford to move out of the Division Three relegation zone. George Deegan made 83 in Higham’s 186 then Brad Gledhill took four wickets and Rob McInerney three.
Worsbrough Bridge were bowled out for 82 in a seven-wicket loss at Frecheville.
Wombwell Main ended Kexborough’s chances of promotion from Division Four but are now relegated.
Jonathan Scaife (72) led Wombwell to 222 then took three wickets as did Scott Aranyi. Kexborough’s Suthaharan Nadesapillai took four wickets then made 61 but they were all out for 168. Kexborough are 14 points off the promotion places and Wombwell 20 points from safety.
Dearne were relegated from Division Eight with a loss at home to Houghton Main 2nd XI. Shokoor Ahmadzai hit 76 off 49 balls with 12 fours and two sixes in Houghton’s 178 then Gul Safi took four wickets. Dearne were all out for 155 with Ben Whitehouse scoring 68 after taking three wickets.
