Vandals have hurled bricks at a moving train passing through Wombwell.
British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses after bricks were thrown at a train near to Wombwell station on July 9 at about 6.35pm.
The train was travelling towards Sheffield and passing under a bridge when the missiles were thrown.
Investigating officer PC Ewan Brechin said: "The impact of the bricks, which we believe were thrown from the bridge, caused damage to several windows of the Northern Rail train.
"This was an extremely foolish and dangerous act, which resulted in a train being damaged.
"We urge those who think that throwing objects at trains is fun to think about the consequences of their actions, which in this case could have been much worse."
Police would like to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious, or if they have any information that could help with the investigation.
