BARNSLEY AC’s juniors enjoyed a golden end to the outdoor track season at Cleethorpes AC’s 50th Anniversary Open.

The six athletes came away with 11 medals.

Under 15 Thomas Clark took 100m bronze in 13.1 and 300m gold in 41.7.

Under 15 girls Layla Kaye and Joanna Adediran won 100m silver and bronze both with a PB time of 14.1 seconds.

Layla also took 200m gold with a PB of 28.8. Under 17 Amelie Spicer won 100m gold in 13.6, 200m gold with 28.0 and 300m gold in 45.5.

Fellow under 17 Evie Donaldson took 100m silver in 13.7 and 200m silver with 28.3. Under 17 Georgia Smith won 300m bronze with a PB of 47.9.

Georgia, Thomas, Evie and Amelie also ran a mixed relay and won under 17 gold.

Penistone Footpath Runners were well-represented at the Sheffield 10k, where Flynn Rogers led the club home in 36-18.

He was backed up by strong runs from Alex Best, Michael Nicholson and a host of other finishers, with Stefan Butler-Gillen producing a course personal best by more than three minutes and John Howsham guiding a visually-impaired athlete around the course.

Six Barnsley Harriers took on the race with PBs for Ricky Curtis and Amanda Lewis and a course PB for Sarah Warrilow.

Barnsley AC’s Taylor Hughes ran a course PB of 39-06 while Stefen Radyk’s time of 58-50 was his best so far this year.

At the Hopton 10k, Penistone’s Jill Scrivens took first place in the women’s over55 category, lowering her previous best on the course by nine minutes.

She was supported by further category podiums for Stu Smith and Mandy Mallinder, with Barbara Haigh and Steve Dommett also competing.

Paul Wheatley was the lone Harrier at Hopton and fourth over70 man in 80-24.

At the Stanage Struggle fell race on the edge of the Peak District, Jon Hallam led the Penistone contingent home in 51-26. He was followed by Daniel Limb and Martin Goodwin, with Harriet Drouin and Mandy Mallinder also competing.

Harrier Terri Keadin competed at Nottingham Robin Hood Half Marathon, raising money for The Christie Cancer Charity. She came 7,702nd in 167-30.

Barnsley AC’s Oliver Norton finished third overall and first under 11 in the two-mile fun run as part of the Golden Gates Gallop in Elvaston, Derbyshire. His time was 16-30.
