BARNSLEY Women’s FC manager Craige Richardson said his side might have underestimated their opponents when they went out of the FA Cup this week.

They lost at home to Mancunian Unity on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Freya Walton scored a late equaliser before the shoot-out defeat.

They are now due to visit Stourbridge in the National League Division One Midlands on Sunday.

The Reds are third with four wins from five games this season while Stourbridge are second-bottom with one win from five.

Richardson said: “It’s always tough going out of the cup. I said to the girls the opposition would want it. They are a good team but they were first to every ball and had more desire than us. We were better in the second half, missed chances then it went to penalties and it’s anybody’s.

“We have had three consecutive clean sheets and wins, scoring goals, then I think the girls thought it would be easier than it was.

“We have to dust ourselves down and take the game to Stourbridge.”
