A WELL-KNOWN author from Barnsley has died.
Geoffrey Howse, 69, was found dead in his London flat last week but his exact date of death has not yet been confirmed.
Born in Sheffield and brought up in Elsecar and Hoyland, Geoffrey was a well-known author in the town.
His work includes Barnsley In The Great War, London’s West End and More Foul Deeds and Suspicious Deaths in Barnsley.
He was also a actor and performed as the maitre d’ in Puccini’s La Boheme.
His sister, Christine Walker, said: “He’s well-known for his work in Barnsley.
“He has a house in Hoyland Common and also lived down in London.
“That’s where he spent most of his time recently.
“He was also an actor.
“He would have been 70 later this month.”
