THE parents of Harvey Willgoose - who was murdered whilst at school - visited Penistone Grammar this week to donate a knife arch which will be used across the community.

The 15-year-old was stabbed with a 13cm serrated edged blade at All Saints High School on February 3 and within a minute he lost consciousness and died.

His parents, Caroline and Mark, have been campaigning for knife arches - the metal detectors used in courts and airports - to be brought in at secondary schools.

And on Tuesday they were at Penistone Grammar School to donate one of the detectors which will be used both at the school and across the area as an educational tool.

Caroline said: “I feel like things are moving now.

“People are listening to us and it’s just amazing this school stepped forward and I just hope that others follow suit.

“I think a lot of schools have turned it down because it looks like they’ve got a problem and that’s not the case.

“They need to step up and get these in place.”
